SINEFIA Agriculture Cooperative Holds In-House Training on Fundamentals of Cooperatives
SIBULAN, NEGROS ORIENTAL — SINEFIA Agriculture Cooperative successfully conducted the first day of its In-House Training on Fundamentals of Cooperatives last February 5, 2026 at the Conference Hall, NOSO, Poblacion, Sibulan.

The activity forms part of the cooperative’s continuing commitment to strengthen its organizational foundation, leadership capacity, and adherence to cooperative principles in line with the standards set by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

The training officially opened with welcome remarks from Engr. Helen T. Lacapao, Head of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) – Negros Oriental Satellite Office, followed by the acknowledgment message delivered by Ms. Violeta N. Barredo, Chief Institutional Development Sub-Unit of NIA-NOSO. Their presence highlighted the strong partnership between government institutions and cooperatives in advancing agricultural development in the province.

The resource speaker, Mrs. Emma S. Burlasa, facilitated the session on the Fundamentals of Cooperatives, guiding officers, members, and stakeholders through essential topics such as:
* Cooperative identity and legal basis
* The Seven Cooperative Principles
* Rights and responsibilities of members
* Structure and functions of cooperative governance
* The importance of active participation and ownership

Participants were actively engaged in discussions, reflecting their eagerness to deepen their understanding of cooperative values and strengthen their roles within SINEFIA Agriculture Cooperative.

Originally scheduled as a two-day seminar covering both Fundamentals, Governance, and Management of Cooperatives, the second component was temporarily postponed due to the recent typhoon that affected the area last week.

The session on Governance and Management of Cooperatives will officially resume on February 13, 2026, ensuring continuity of learning and reinforcing leadership accountability, strategic direction, and operational efficiency within the cooperative.

This in-house training demonstrates SINEFIA Agriculture Cooperative’s proactive approach toward institutional strengthening. By investing in education and capacity-building, the cooperative affirms its commitment to sustainability, transparency, and service to its members — especially in the agricultural sector where strong governance directly impacts livelihood and community resilience.

As we celebrate cooperative education and empowerment, we look forward to the continuation of the training this February 13, 2026, where deeper discussions on governance and management will further equip SINEFIA’s leaders to steer the cooperative toward greater growth and stability.
